The PhD program in management at the Manipal Centre for Business Practice (MCBP) is aimed to equip you with essential skills of researching complex issues in the field of business practice. The program is sturdily committed to preparing thought leaders and academicians in the field of management. The PhD program is designed to be flexible. The program encapsulates an interdisciplinary approach, and enables you to apply social science disciplines and research methods to various intriguing management problems. Each student is expected to draw on the faculty’s diverse expertise and interests to develop a research journey suited to his or her interests. The program encourages students to gain hands-on research experience by working with the faculties on various managerial research, case-based, and government projects.

Individuals who are looking for a career in management academia, or research roles, or consultancy


4 years (full-time); maximum 6 years

  • 1 year/3 term course work
  • 3 years research work



  • Master’s degree/diploma with at least 55% or equivalent grade
  • OR Professional qualification (CA/ICWA/CS) with at least 50 % aggregate marks
  • OR Bachelor’s degree (4 year/8 semester) with 60% or equivalent grade

(Relaxation based on reservation rule applicable as per University & Government policy)

Fees and Fellowship

  • MCBP charges no tuition fee for this program. 
  • Monthly stipend – INR 35,000/- (for first two years) and INR 40,000/- (for the next two years)

  • Comprehensive Assessment (Qualifying nature, Minimum score 50%)
  • Thesis Proposal (8 months)
  • Approval of Thesis proposal

Third and Fourth Year –

  • Research Activity
