Pathway-to-PhD for MSc By Research in Biotherapeutics course:
1. Candidates will be interviewed for entry into the MSc By Research in Biotherapeutics course. Their Statement of Research Interest (SRI) for enrolling in an integrated MSc-PhD program (to be mentioned as Pathway to PhD program from hereon) with an option to move out with only a MSc degree after (4th Semester), will be obtained in a given format immediately after their joining to the MSc course. A maximum of 10% of the total MSc intake, i.e., two candidates will finally be selected for doing the Pathway to PhD program at MCBR.
2. Post declaration of 2nd-semester examination results, all the candidates who submitted SRI for doing the Pathway to PhD program will be assessed. A maximum of two candidates will be selected based on the aggregate marks obtained in the 1st and 2nd-semester examinations. At the beginning of the 3rd semester, MCBR PhD guides will discuss their Expression of Interest (EOIs) with the selected candidates.
3. These selected candidates will commence their 3rd-semester course i.e., research work as per MCBR MSc guidelines under a chosen guide at MCBR.
4. Commencing from the 4th semester, the candidates are required to begin their mandatory PhD coursework, worth 12 credits, and they should complete it in the next ONE year following the MAHE PhD guidelines.
5. After successful completion of the four-semester master-degree program, the candidates will receive MSc degree certificates.
6. Following the completion of the 4th-semester MSc course, the selected candidates (mentioned in step 2) will be admitted to the PhD program and should start receiving Dr. TMA Pai PhD Fellowship, upto a total period of THREE years. The PhD research will be a continuation of their research work carried out during the 3rd and 4th semesters under the same guide.
7. Candidates will receive PhD degree after successful completion of their doctoral research work, as per MAHE guidelines.
Note: For all other issues, Pathway-to-PhD candidates must adhere to the regular MAHE PhD guidelines.
