About MedSafe: A Student Initiative

MedSafe: A Student Initiative is a student-led organization at MCOPS, dedicated to promoting the safe and responsible use of medicines by raising awareness about adverse drug reactions (ADRs), medication safety and the importance of their timely reporting. Based on the principles of drug safety and public health, the club serves as a dynamic platform for students to engage with the real-world implications of patient safety beyond the classroom.

To educate, enhance and promote medication safety awareness.

Vision

To be a dynamic student-led initiative that promotes widespread awareness and comprehension of medication safety, empowering students and the public to make well-informed, responsible healthcare decisions.

Purpose of the Club

  • Promote medication safety by raising awareness about the safe use of medicines
  • Educate students and the general public on adverse drug reactions by helping them understand, recognize, and report them
  • Encourage healthcare professionals to integrate pharmacovigilance in their daily lives
  • Inform the general population of medication under scrutiny in the market
  • Advocate for medication safety to enhance patient trust and confidence

Membership

  • Membership is open to all students enrolled in Manipal College of Pharmaceutical Sciences.

Activities

  • National Pharmacovigilance Week and MedSafety Week celebrations
  • Community outreach programs
  • Guest Lectures, workshops, webinars related to pharmacovigilance
  • Competitions such as quiz, debate, extempore etc.
  • Collaborations with other student clubs and committees for awareness programs

Newsletter

  • “Adversis Scienta,” the biannual newsletter, will be published.
  • The content of the newsletter may include, but is not limited to club activities, articles, current affairs, and opinion pieces surrounding pharmacovigilance, and patient safety.
