Two women of varied backgrounds but similar spirits were celebrated for their remarkable service and commitment to society.  The efforts of Ms. Tanula Tarun from Hasabelaku Ashrama, Udupi, and Ms. Garima Vishal, the Director of Dejawoo School of Innovation, Muzaffarpur, Bihar were recognized by MIT-FOA Faculty Club on the International Women’s Day Celebration on 08 March 2022.

Ms. Tanula has dedicated her life to the service of the impoverished and orphans of the region in and around Manipal. The Hosabelaku Ashrama founded by her takes care of orphans and the poor. The Ashrama takes care of the orphans, the sick, and the downtrodden, often picking them up from the streets and restoring a sense of balance to their life. At present, there are around 68 people in the Ashrama.  It also cares for the orphaned and injured cattle. Dr.(Cdr). Anil Rana presided over the event and felicitated Ms. Tanula in the presence of Mrs. Shikha Rana., Dr. Somashekara Bhat, Joint Director, MIT,  Secretary of Faculty Club Dr. K Arathi Bhat, and Director of MSAP Dr. N Ramadevi. 

Ms. Garima Vishal an engineering graduate from Manipal Institute of Technology, and an MBA graduate from IIM Lucknow, is the Director of  Dejawoo School of Innovation.  The school founded by Ms. Garima Vishal in 2014 aims to educate underprivileged children with an education system that is different from the one that is currently being followed in the country. The school has got national recognition due to its recommendable ways of teaching and training teachers. Ms. Garima Vishal shared her experience with the audience in the virtual media. Anil Rana, and Joint Director, MIT Dr. Somashekara Bhat expressed their appreciation for her exemplary contribution to social services and congratulated Garima on her achievement
