About Division
· Division of Yoga started according to the vision and mission of Padmashree Dr. T M A Pai.
· Established - in January 1980 at KMC, MAHE by Professor Dr. K Krishna Bhat, PhD.
· PG Diploma in Yoga Therapy program - 1985 to 1998.
· M.Sc. in Yoga Therapy, since 1998 onwards.
· Division of Yoga - 2015 onwards working under Centre for Integrative Medicine & Research (CIMR), MAHE, Manipal.
Aim of the Division
· To provide Yoga Therapy to the patients who are suffering from various kinds of disorders along with all modern facilities of treatment available in the hospital.
· To provide regular yoga training to staff & students of MAHE and to the public.
· To train the staff and students to develop skills in Yoga Therapy and research.
· It combines a philosophical approach with empirical research to lay the foundation of integrative medicine.
Out Patient Department – Yoga Therapy
· OPD Timings: 7 A.M to 6 P.M
· IP and OP Patients: referred by various departments (Paediatrics, Medicine, OBG, Eye, Cardiology, Orthopaedics, Skin, ENT, Gastroenterology, Neurology & Psychiatry and other various departments of our Kasturba hospital) and other hospitals & clinics.
· Patient will be trained for 1 hour for 10 sessions/1-3 months
· Per day number of patients - Avg. - 40 – 45 (IP & OP patients)
· Monthly number of patients average 850 to 900 (IP & OP patients)
· General yoga classes for all- Staff, Students and Public

M.Sc. (Yoga Therapy)
Duration: 2 Years (4 Semesters)
Eligibility: Candidates with minimum 50% marks in any bachelor’s degree or its equivalent course are eligible to apply. Admission process shall be made purely on the basis of merit in the qualifying examination.
Minimum Intake of Students: 15
Program Description
Yoga Therapy aims at incorporating the principles of yoga therapy based on traditional knowledge and classical scriptures into a clinical setting for the treatment of various disorders. It combines a philosophical approach with empirical research to lay the foundation of integrative medicine.
Focus
1st & 2nd semester - to expand the student's personal understanding of the relevance of yoga philosophy in today's world. 3rd& 4th semester - developing and scientifically exploring the skill of application of specific yoga techniques for the benefit of patients and to develop research skills.
Career Prospects
Can establish their own centres.
Can join any hospitals or Institutions as a Yoga Therapist.
Its curriculum includes:
· Classroom teachings, seminar, assignments and tutorials.
· Patient interaction for assessment and application of yoga therapy.
· Classical text, basic science and applied medical science.
· Application of yoga as therapy with the basic text knowledge.
· Sessional examinations, seminars and clinical studies, project work
Certificate Course in Yoga
Aim:
• To provide basic information on holistic approach of yoga.
• For self-health care and stress management.
• For research in yoga and to promote higher studies in yoga.

Course fee: INR 6,500/USD 200 Minimum Intake of Students: 25
