Manipal Academy of Higher Education mourns Kalam’s death
Manipal Academy of Higher Education on Tuesday mourned the death of People’s President, Dr APJ Abdul Kalam who died in Shillong on July 27, 2015. Classes were suspended as a mark of respect for the former President. A condolence meeting was held in the Senate Hall of the Manipal.Edu building. Pro Chancellor, Dr H.S.Ballal, Vice Chancellor, Dr H Vinod Bhat and Registrar, Dr G.K.Prabhu, heads of institutions and the officials of the University were present.

After a two-minute silence, Dr Ballal briefly spoke about Dr Kalam’s visits to the University in 2003 and 2014. “India has lost a gem of a person, who had a dream for the country -- dream to see India a developed nation by 2020 through an action plan which he advocated strongly,” he said.
