Overview

One of the oldest languages of the world, Sanskrit has been a repository of intellectual and literary contributions of the civilisation of Indian subcontinent for millennia. A critical study and analysis of such literary and intellectual traditions would indeed benefit and foster the human understanding. There is a need of such study in the source language as well. This venture would further the intellectual resources capable of engaging with literary and philosophical thoughts in understanding the human experience and social landscapes. The Master’s program in Sanskrit Studies would introduce Sanskrit literatures and equip learners with tools to engage with them against the background of comparative philosophical discussions. This would also address the need for teachers and researchers in Sanskrit studies with adequate training in classical and contemporary research methods and develop a nuanced pedagogy for teaching Indian languages.
