In the current study we have evaluated the feasibility of performing an unmanned vision test and we report good correlation with conventional examination techniques. The implication of this research work is to implement such a tele optometry model in vision screening.
Prevalence of visual impairment among school children in Udupi Taluk

This cross- sectional study was conducted among 1784 school children in Udupi Taluk from the age group of 5-15years to report the magnitude of visual impairment among the school children. Presenting visual acuity and objective refraction was measured using Computerised LogMAR acuity charts (COMPlog) and Plusoptix A09 photorefractor.
Manipal-electronic Amsler grid software (M-E Amsler Grid) - An intelligent retinal disease screening tool

The M-E Amsler is very comprehensive, interactive feedback touch screen based Amsler grid system and we are in the process of clinical validation. The application functions on all platforms: both mobile and web, use of GPS technology for referrals, and an interactive system designed to suffice the needs of all individuals. These features in the software will facilitate people to instantly share their reports to particular eye care provider.
