MNCs today are finding it difficult to get the right kind of candidates as they lack employability. Even though they study to enhance knowledge, they need to be molded in the area of problem solving instead of memorizing and reproducing during exams, said Mr Neeraj Paliwal, vice president, NXP Semiconductors while inaugurating the two-day (29th and 30th April, 2011) third national level Conference on Information Science (NCIS-2011) at Manipal Centre for Informations Science (MCIS).
Mr Paliwal added: Industry requires people who can handle the situation and are able to transform knowledge into specific skill. He urged the participants to think from the angle of System Designer which helps in understanding the problems differently.
Dr NS Murthy, Director-New Initiatives and Academic Relations, NXP Semiconductors, gave a talk on Industry-Institutional linkage as the powerful tool to increase the employability. He stressed the need for more networking and team work apart from the regular curriculum
