EXPERIENCE

Dr. Pande’s worked at CCMB for 32 years and he superannuated from there in January 2015. He obtained his Ph.D. from Cancer Research Institute, Mumbai in 1981 and had earlier education at Delhi University. In CCMB Dr. Pande’s lab studied the interaction of integrins with the cell matrix molecules, the role of extracellular matrix in determining the differentiation of stem cells and making new biomaterials for applications in the field of orthobiologicals. Dr. Pande is an expert in developing GMP facilities for stem cell research and biosafety level 3 and 4 labs - he has worked as an expert on these subjects in several government appointed committees. Dr. Pande has guided 6 Ph.D. students and about 15 Masters Project students; he has published 65 research papers and has 3 patents. in 2015 he established startup company on bone biomaterials called Ortho Regenics Private Limited which is incubating in IIT Kanpur.Dr. Pande’s worked at CCMB for 32 years and he superannuated from there in January 2015. Projects

CSIR Network Program on “Cell and Tissue Engineering – CMM 002” (2003-2007) total value 21.23 crores
Worked as the nodal scientist for the administrative and scientific coordination of scientific projects. Coordinated the projects at five CSIR Institutes (RRL-J, NCL, CIMAP, NBRI, IHBT)under Plant Tissue Engineering program and 3 CSIR labs (RRL-J, IICB, CCMB) under Animal Tissue Engineering program. CSIR Network Program on “Infectious Diseases, Handling, Storage and Research
Worked as the nodal scientist for the administrative and scientific coordination of setting up Biosafety Level 3 (BSL3) labs at the five CSIR Institutes (IMTECH, RRL-J, IGIB, IICB, CDRI). I was responsible for the designing, building and validating the BSL3 facilities at all the Institutes. I also coordinated an extended program under this project for conducting the biosafety training program for all scientists in the Network program in collaboration with Sandia National Lab USA

Project on “Setting up a Clinical Research Facility for Developing Stem Cell Technologies 
The DST sanctioned a project to CCMB, in collaboration with the Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS), Hyderabad to set up a clinical research facility developing stem cell technologies and regenerative medicine. The total cost of the project was about 35 crores.I supervised the construction of new building equipped to do laboratory and clinical work in the same building. I also started projects on bone and cartilage tissue differentiation and characterization of hematopoietic and hepatic stem cells under this program

Project on Establishing a National BSL-4 Facility at CCMB Hyderabad (2007-2012)
DST sanctioned a project to establish a National Biosafety Level 4 Facility (NBSF) at CCMB The project was taken to the award of contract level but then abandoned by CCMB due change in priorities of their research.
