December 24, 2022

In 2021, The World Bank stated, "The development of skills can contribute to structural transformation and economic growth by enhancing employability and labour productivity and helping countries to become more competitive." Keeping this as a vision, MAHE established the Centre for Pharmaceutical Skill Development (CPSD) at MCOPS, to develop and nurture skills among pharmacy students to make them industry ready. CPSD, MAHE, in association with the Association of Pharmacy Teachers of India (APTI) - Karnataka State Branch and Life Sciences Sector Skill Development Council, organized Manipal Pharmacy Conclave 2022 with the theme ‘Alumni Skill Sharing with Students’, on December 24, 2022, at Manipal.

The Manipal Pharmacy Conclave is a unique skill-sharing initiative in the pharmacy domain and a typical example of skill giving of Corporate Alumnus back to the institutions. 30 Alumnus of MCOPS from top pharmaceutical industries participated as resource persons and shared their experience and expertise during the Conclave with 200 delegates from pharmacy colleges across the country. Dr. Sharath K. Rao, Dean, and Professor, Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, inaugurated the event.

The Conclave was conducted in four sessions. The first session was Pep Talks, in which ten resource people shared emerging pharmaceutical concepts or technologies with the delegates. The panel discussion was focused on various upcoming job roles and skills required in their pharmaceutical industries. The third session was ‘Initiate, Ideate, and Innovate’, in which the delegates were grouped into ten different teams, and the resource persons evaluated their unique team building, critical thinking, and problem-solving activities. This was followed by a session on CV writing.
