Novartis selects research scholars of MCOPS for Novartis India BioCamp 2016

Over fifty students across the country, from disciplines of Pharmacy, Life Sciences, Medicine, Human Resources, Marketing and Statistics were selected by Novartis Biotechnology Leadership Camp 2016. Not only post-graduates and doctoral students participated, under-graduates too were involved. Jyothsna Manikkath, Subhankar Biswas and Mradul Tiwari were the research scholars chosen to participate in Novartis India BioCamp- 2016, held in Hyderabad. The programme spanned for four days, with a visit to the state-of-the-art facilities of Novartis India and scientific and business sessions by veterans from the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries and academics. Participants interacted with the likes of Jawed Zia, Country President of Novartis India; Dr Ashfaq Hasan, Head, Department of Pulmonary Medicine, Owaisi Hospital & Research Centre, Hyderabad; Ganesh Balakrishnan, Partner at Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu India LLP; Professor Deva Priyakumar U, Associate Professor, International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad; Anuradha Acharya and CEO of Mapmygenome. The program encompassed enriching facility-tours, sessions and interaction with speakers and participants. Subhankar Biswas emerged as team winner in case study presentations. The valedictory address was given by PadmaShri Dr A S Soin, Chief Hepatobiliary and Liver transplant surgeon & Chairman, Institute of Liver Transplantation and Regenerative Medicine, Medanta, Gurgaon, where he spoke on liver transplant and the rapidly changing world of medicine driven by technology.
