MCOPS welcomes freshmen of 2016-17

It is an exciting time for parents to see their children embark on professional courses. Orientation programme gives an opportunity to welcome students and parents and to share information about academics and campus life. Nearly hundred pharmacy freshmen with their parents attended the programme. Dr C Mallikarjuna Rao, principal, welcomed the gathering and detailed various curricular aspects. With passion, he introduced his faculty members. The prodigious crowd was addressed by Dr H Vinod Bhat, Vice-Chancellor, Manipal Academy of Higher Education who was the chief guest of inaugural programme. Dr Bhat exalted MCOPS for standing first in the NIRF ranking of MHRD, India, and also for upholding quality education and research. He strongly encouraged the students to explore beyond classrooms, in order to widen their knowledge. Dr Sulatha Bhandary, Deputy Director, Student Affairs elaborated on the activities of students in the campus. Mr Shridhar H, Director of Physical Education introduced talked on the sport facilities available at the campus. Dr Dilip Thomas, Executive-operations, Kasturba Hospital interacted with the audience regarding the availability and utility of healthcare facilities. Dr Anup Naha comprehended the activities of volunteer services organization [VSO] of Manipal Academy of Higher Education and motivated the students to involve in various volunteering activities of VSO. In the late afternoon, students along with their parents interacted with the teacher guardians. All about pharmacy profession was introduced by Dr M Sreenivasa Reddy, Vice Principal on the second day. Thereafter, the freshers received orientation on various pharmaceutical associations and their activities, rules and regulations pertaining to library and hostel, safety and campus security, finance related matters and research activities of Manipal Academy of Higher Education. Morning session concluded with self-introduction by the first year students. Students experienced the vibrancy of Manipal Academy of Higher Education campus, during the tour guided by various faculty members. We hope our students to be on their way confidently by the time they leave orientation
