Department of Pharmacognosy, MCOPS has organized its First guest lecture webinar through MST, on 03/12/2022, from 9.30 am to 11.00 am. Dr Rojison Koshy, Asst. General Manager - Quality&Regulatory, Natural Remedies Pvt Ltd. Bangalore, India was the resource person for the same. The theme selected for the webinar was "Role of Analytical Instrumentation in ensuring Quality of Natural Products”. Dr. Richard Lobo, Head of the Department of Pharmacognosy, welcomed the speaker and the participants and introduced the speaker to the participants. Dr. Rojison, an eminent scientist, phytochemist, and analyst, deliberated on the need for the quality of the botanicals / raw materials in manufacturing the herbal dosage forms. In his lecture, he stressed on the need for identity, potency, and safety of herbal raw materials which are largely obtained from plant, animal, and mineral origin. Dr. Rojison’s talk was more focused on the use of analytical instrumentation in standardizing crude drugs as well as formulations to ensure delivering quality products to the consumer. Dr. Rojison narrated his talk with well-documented examples using various analytical techniques. The lecture was very informative and well-appreciated by the participants. Post-lecture, Dr. Rojison Khoshy interacted with participants and answered all the queries raised by them. The lecture was attended by more than 30 participants. Dr. Vasudev R Pai, Assistant Professor Selection grade, coordinated the guest lecture, and Dr. Richard Lobo proposed the vote of thanks.
