A week long program to evoke nationalism-Azaadi Yaad Kare

August 25, 2016

'70 Saal Azadi-Zara Yaad Karo Kurbani' was a patriotic demonstration held by Manipal Academy of Higher Education Association of Pharmacy Students [MAPS] during 15-22 August, to reminisce the struggles for freedom. This initiative came soon after the clarion call was issued by Government of India. The patriotic week started off with a magnificent march past that painted saffron, white and green, in not just the air, but also in hearts. Following this, a freedom walk of 3 kilometres from MCOPS to End Point, comprising students and faculty members was witnessed, signifying ‘Go Green, Peace and Harmony’. Just when everyone thought MAPS would be exhausted to conduct anymore events, MAPS bounced with enthusiasm, organising a Student Meet for reminiscing independence. Students lectured on freedom fighters, listing facts about British rule over India. A slogan writing competition for students was held. Proceeding further, a face-painting competition was organized, where students excelled by painting current events as well as past events, making every Indian proud to think about their path for freedom. On the final day, the National Anthem was recited by MCOPS’ students, all teaching and supporting staff, bringing a new-found responsibility, love and care for the nation. It was a symbol of one voice with unity. MAPS signed off, the week-long events of Azaadi Yaad Kare with patriotism and gaiety.
