Vassilios Papadopoulos, Dean, School of Pharmacy, University of Southern California spoke on epigenetic regulation of steroid hormone biosynthesis

Dr TMA Pai endowment chair on translational research and department of pharmacy practice, MCOPS jointly organized a guest talk by Dr Vassilios Papadopoulos, Dean of the School of Pharmacy, University of Southern California (USC), USA on the topic “Regulation of steroid hormone biosynthesis by hormones, drugs and the environment” on 3 September 2018. Dr Papadopoulos emphasized the epigenetic regulation of steroid hormone biosynthesis and action. He explained the core details related to the reduction of testosterone level in men over last decades, testosterone replacement therapy and its associated risk. Professor Papadopoulos narrated the disruptive effect of plasticizers like DHEP on the reproductive and endocrine systems of children and adults. Followed by the talk, the students interacted with Michael Curtis, Chief of International Business Development, USC on career advancement in pharmacy at USC. The talk received an overwhelming response from the participants. Concluding remark was given by Dr Mahadev Rao, professor and head, department of pharmacy practice
