Overview

MPhil Clinical Psychology is a specialised course offered by the Department of Clinical Psychology, MCHP. Department of Clinical Psychology works along with a super-specialty hospital with a fully-fledged Psychiatry department, so we have a wide range of patient population which ensures the quality of clinical experience. 

The curriculum includes:

  • Regular theory classes and psychometric training - equipped with audio-visual.
  • Intense training in psychological assessment with latest test materials which include Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children- IV, AIIMS Comprehensive Neuropsychological Battery, Dyslexia Screening Test,-Junior, Millon Clinical Multiaxial Inventory –III along with hands on training in software for Rorschach Ink Blot Test.  
  • Provision of platform to work with school, rehabilitation centers, community and geriatric population which help students to understand practical aspects of clinical psychology in various fields 
  • Implementation of innovative pedagogy practices like micro teaching, skill training, one to one case discussions, conducting journal club, case conferences and seminars to enhance teaching and learning performance which will help to address the rapid technological advances
  • Guest lectures on various clinical psychology topics.
  • Cumulative assessment and evaluation of student’s progress
  • Encouraging scientific paper presentation/publication during training period.
  • Highly sophisticated research facilities.
  • Learning therapy from the masters: Watching video sessions of psychotherapy done by masters in the respective fields followed by discussions which gives students a better understanding about approaches of psychotherapy and its application in different psychological conditions 
  • Direct supervision and teaching  in the clinical setting

Assessment

  • Two internal exams for each subject in a year.
  • Two internal practical exams in a year.
  • Examination pattern - Written descriptive exam for  each subject,  practical & viva-voce
  • At the end of first year student is required to submit a five full length psych diagnostic case report and minimum pass mark (internal evaluation) need to be obtained to appear in first year university exam.
  • At the end of second year student is required to submit a five fully worked-out psychotherapy case report and minimum pass mark (internal evaluation) is to be obtained to appear in second year university exam.
  • The student is required to pass core psychological assessment exam (internal) before appearing university exam.
