Yathish Baikampady at WGSHA World Tourism Day celebration

Department of Allied Hospitality Studies, Manipal Academy of Higher Education celebrated the World Tourism Day on the 28th September 2015 at Welcomgroup Graduate School of Hotel Administration .The occasion was honoured by chief guest Mr. Yathish Baikampady, CEO, Panambur Beach Tourism Development Project. Mr. Baikampady enlightened the students with his talk on the current scenario of the tourism industry which focused on rural development, beach tourism, and as well sending a strong message of “Responsible Tourism”. The day proceeded with seminar which focused on main theme of World Tourism Day “1 Billion tourists’ 1 Billion opportunities .The four main sub themes of the seminar were
1. Introduction to main theme “One Billion tourist and One Billion Opportunities” which gave us a brief idea of why this was selected as a theme for this year World Tourism Day.
2. Sustainable Tourism and its impact on tourism opportunities.
3. Contemporary tourism and its role in attracting tourist
4. Tourism growth and challenges in India
The function was concluded by inputs from the audience on development of the rural tourism in our country and how all could initiate the tourism in this sector of our country by making our grass root level of foundation strong.
