Following are the proceedings of the discussion:
- Chef Thiru (Principal, WGSHA) welcomed the members and introduced Mr. Visheshwar Raj Singh to all the present members.
- All the Faculty Members introduced themselves with their area of expertise and subjects handled.
- All the Executives of Oberoi Hotels & Resorts introduced themselves.
- Mr. Singh started the discussion by appreciating and congratulating the faculty members for having the world class facilities and infrastructure for culinary arts.
- He highlighted the present students’ placement scenario; wherein more candidates are opting for culinary positions, and suggested Faculty Members to encourage students to aspire for positions like - Guest Service Management, Front Office, Housekeeping and F&B Service as their career options.
- He emphasized that students should have general awareness, geographical acquaintance and who’s who (national & international) apart from their technical knowledge & skills, so that they can be smarter global citizens along with smarter hoteliers.
- He stressed that today’s students should be in a position to suggest best practices to industry rather than learning from them.
- He even invited all the Faculty Members to his hotel to see the latest trends & innovations happening in the industry so that the same can be further cascaded to students.
- Chef Vasanthan (Faculty Member, WGSHA) thanked Mr. Singh for all the suggestions as also for inviting Faculty colleagues for industrial exposure.
- Chef Thiru (on behalf of all the faculty members) thanked Mr. Singh and his team for all their constructive suggestions for the overall development of students.
- The interaction concluded with vote of thanks by Chef Thiru and was followed by lunch..
