    Dr Vijay Kumar is the head of the department of paediatric surgery.

    He:

    • Is in charge of clinical and administrative functioning of the department.
    • Is in charge of academic activities in the department.
    • Attends to OPD patients.
    • Oversees and plans patient management with other faculty members.
    • Performs and supervises surgeries.
    • Conducts and supervises research done in the department.
    • Liaises with other clinical departments as and when necessary for patient management or administrative tasks.
    • Supervises training of registrars and residents.

  • Brief overview: In this project the vitals of the neonates are monitored using noncontact methods. The camera signals are converted to digital format and using specific algorithms these are converted to specific data.

  • Brief overview: In this study a novel analytical framework that enables spectroscopy based longitudinal tracking of biochemical concentration and blood glucose. This method offer a new route at screening of blood glucose or other biochemical components of blood.

  • Brief overview: Thermographic imaging is a non-invasive and radiation free imaging modality that measures the infrared radiation released by the body. This study is to  evaluate the efficacy of thermographic breast imaging in detecting breast cancer

  • Brief overview: In this project the spermatogonia from the pre-pubertal testis is harvested by testicular biopsy, before starting the patient on chemotherapy. These cells are frozen and preserved in – 80 degrees centigrade and later, if there is fertility issue to the patient, the spermatocytes are retrieved from these preserved spermatogonia.

  • Brief overview: In this study all the anorectal malformation babies are evaluated completely from the antenatal period to look for any predisposing factors that is responsible for the genesis of congenital anomaly.

  • Brief overview: To describe the epidemiology (e.g., age distribution and seasonal patterns) of intussusception (IS) hospitalizations among children <2 years of age using sentinel hospital surveillance sites. Also to assess the potential risk of intussusception associated with Rotasiil® among vaccinated children.
