Centre of Excellence in Clinical Embryology, Department of Reproductive Science at KMC, Manipal Hosts "Open Day" on World Embryologist Day

– The Centre of Excellence in Clinical Embryology, Department of Reproductive Science at Kasturba Medical College (KMC), Manipal, organised an "Open Day" event to commemorate World Embryologist Day, celebrating the birth of the world’s first IVF baby, Louise Brown. The event aimed to inspire and educate biology students from nearby colleges about the field of in vitro fertilisation (IVF) and provide them with insights into career opportunities in the field of reproduction.

The Open Day was inaugurated by Dr. Sharath Rao, Pro Vice Chancellor of Health Sciences, MAHE, Manipal. He shared his insights, stating, "The future of reproductive medicine relies heavily on the expertise and dedication of clinical embryologists. These professionals are at the forefront of helping couples overcome infertility challenges and achieve their dreams of parenthood. It is our responsibility to provide aspiring students with the necessary resources and knowledge to excel in this field. By offering comprehensive education, hands-on training, and exposure to cutting-edge research, we can ensure that the next generation of clinical embryologists is well-prepared to make significant contributions to reproductive health. Today's Open Day is a significant step towards achieving this goal, as it allows students to see firsthand the impact of their potential future profession and the difference they can make in people's lives."

Dr. Padmaraj Hegde, Dean of KMC Manipal, graced the occasion and emphasised the importance of advanced training and research in reproductive sciences. He highlighted the Centre's commitment to excellence in education and innovation.

Throughout the day, students were given the opportunity to observe the IVF process firsthand, interact with leading experts in the field, and learn about the various career paths available both as clinical embryologists and researchers. The event featured informative sessions, interactive demonstrations, and a tour of the state-of-the-art labs at KMC Manipal.

Students left the event motivated and equipped with a deeper understanding of the intricacies of IVF and the significant impact of clinical embryology on reproductive health.
