The Manipal campus is a global village. Our institutions attract students from around the globe, across continents. We have students from Zimbabwe, Zambia, Botswana and Congo and from as far as Canada and Iceland. Closer home, students from Seychelles, Sri Lanka, Russia and Bangladesh are part of the Manipal family, as also from other Asian countries like Korea, Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore.
With such a broad palette, our campuses are a school in the real sense of the word – a place where students learn about other cultures and cuisines, ways of life in countries on the other side of the dateline, other peoples and other homes.
It breeds a sense of camaraderie that transcends geographies and political ideologies, and the average Manipal student is, therefore, quite at ease anywhere on the globe.
We take pride in our diversity for it is exactly as our founder Dr TMA Pai would have liked it. His vision was to have a centre of learning where no student was favoured, and only merit counted – religion, nationality, caste and creed had no place in the institutions he created. And so it is today.
Students from the USA and UK, Switzerland and Japan feel just as comfortable in Manipal as a student from Iran, Brunei and Barbados. And while, at present, the number of our international students is more than 2000, this number is set to grow in the coming years.
Here is what our students and alumni say:
"KMC is a melting pot of diverse cultures and filled with rich learning experiences. It is a place to healthy place to blossom academically, professionally and socially".
Dr Steve Serrao, KMC, 1996 batch
“For your college years, if you are looking for a hub of intellect plus creativity, for a bustling pot-pourri of national and international cultures and mostly if at the end you want to be more than just a doctor with a degree, then KMC Manipal is the place to be. “
Uzma Siddiqui, KMC, MBBS
