MIC and DGIR observe 89th Indian Air Force Day

Manipal Institute of Communication collaborated with the Department of Geopolitics and International Relations to observe the 89th Indian Air Force Day on 8 October, 2021 with a distinguished ONLINE lecture by Air Force veteran, Air Marshal Dr. M. Matheswaran, AVSM, VM, a former Deputy Chief of Integrated Defense Staff on the topic, ‘Role of Air Force in Nation Building and India’s National Security’. 

Air Marshal Matheswaran in his address traced the role of Indian Air Force in various operations since Independence and its role in nation-building. He pointed out the role of the Air Force in the operation Safedsagar and Balakot strike. He emphasized the pertinent role of the Air Force in times of increasing threat of electronic warfare and the need for an integrated defence command structure to deal with these issues.

Vice-Chancellor of MAHE, Manipal, gave the presidential address, and Director of MIC, Dr. Padma Rani delivered the welcome address. Head of the Department of Geopolitics and International Relations, Dr. Nanda Kishore M.S. moderated the session.
