March 06, 2025

The 14th, 15th and 16th of February 2025 saw the vibrant celebration of the 3rd edition of a larger, livelier “Namma Sante”, attended by about 13,000 people at KMC Greens. The event was a collaboration between Manipal Institute of Communication, Manipal, a premier media and communication college, and Udayavani, the leading newspaper of Dakshin Karnataka, conducted by MIC’s postgraduate students of Media and Communication. It was auspiciously inaugurated by the Chief Guest - Lt. Gen. (Dr.) M. D. Venkatesh, Vice Chancellor of MAHE with the Guest of Honour - Mr. Vinod Kumar, the MD & CEO of Manipal Media Network Ltd. and Dr. Raviraja N. S., CEO of MAHE, who presided over the event, along with Dr. Padma Rani, Director of Manipal Institute of Communication, Mr. Akhil Raj K. V., the Faculty Coordinator of the event, and Dr. Padmakumar K, HOD of PG programs on 14th Feb 2025. It was a colourful three-day exhibition-cum-marketplace organized with the aim of promoting local, small-scale entrepreneurs by providing them a platform to showcase their products and connect with the local community, stalls offered a variety of items, like pottery, handmade accessories and bags, sarees, wooden toys, artwork, crochet products, decor, and furniture. There was even a live installation demonstrating traditional handloom weaving, a special treat to view.

The larger venue of KMC Greens exponentially increased the scale of the event, making this third edition of Namma Sante an unprecedented opportunity. The event was headed by Anupama Hattiholi and Debasmita Guha, both post-graduate students of Media and Communication, who, along with their batchmates, made the event possible through extensive planning, coordination, and collaborative effort. They were enthusiastically supported by volunteers (fellow MIC students) without whom the event would not have been such a triumph.

Throughout the event, all students, faculty and staff members of MIC demonstrated exceptional teamwork, resilience, and problem-solving skills. This spirit of camaraderie and dedication not only delighted the vendors but also reflected the core values of MIC and its commitment to empowering local communities through meaningful initiatives.
