The Department of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) at MIT, MAHE, Manipal, proudly celebrates 25 years of remarkable progress and achievements. Since its inception in 2000, the department has witnessed phenomenal growth, expanding from just 5% of MIT admissions to 20% in 2025. The student intake has surged from 40 to over 400, while the faculty strength has increased from a modest four to more than 50 academicians.
The department has also made significant strides in research, growing from a single PhD scholar to over 35, and from a single journal publication to an impressive tally of more than 300. Research funding has flourished, with external grants rising from one to over 20. Similarly, laboratory facilities have expanded from one to more than ten, providing cutting-edge resources for innovation.
To mark this milestone, the department is hosting several celebratory events, including PING 2025, a Hackathon (CTF), and a Panel Discussion, fostering intellectual exchange and technological advancement. This silver jubilee celebration not only honors the department’s legacy but also sets the stage for future innovation and excellence.
