The MIT Manipal Alumni Association (MITMAA) with tagline -Bringing generations, Building legacies’ was launched on Friday, 20th December 2024, at the MIT Central Library Auditorium. The event marked a milestone with the unveiling of the association’s logo and participation from distinguished guests and alumni.

Chief Guest, Mr. Vinod Eswaran, MD & CEO of Jio Payments Bank, shared his personal journey and the pivotal role MIT played in shaping his life. He recalled: "During my final year, I faced the loss of my father, and the adaptability I learned at MIT became my strength. This institution taught me resilience and community, lessons that inspire me to strive for excellence."

He emphasized the need for a robust alumni network, citing examples of global institutions that leverage alumni strength for growth. Mr. Eswaran noted, "MIT has produced leaders across industries, yet the absence of a strong alumni association limits our impact. This platform can bridge gaps in corporate relationships and recruitment, benefiting alumni, students, and Brand MIT alike."

Guest of Honour, Lt. Gen. (Dr.) M. D. Venkatesh, Vice Chancellor of MAHE, highlighted the transformative potential of alumni engagement: "The progress of an institution is deeply connected to its alumni. Over time, the bond between an alumnus and their alma mater grows stronger, acting as an umbilical cord that nurtures generations and legacies."

He stressed the multi-dimensional contributions alumni can make as mentors, sponsors, and resource providers. Reflecting on MIT’s 67-year legacy, he underscored the importance of structured objectives to sustain long-term success.

Director’s Perspective: Dr. (Cdr.) Anil Rana, Director of MIT, expressed pride in being the first MAHE institute to adopt the AlmaShine alumni portal, linking over 37,800 members. He said: "This platform enables students to seek mentorship from alumni, fostering growth and collaboration. With half of our adjunct faculty being alumni, we’ve laid a strong foundation. The establishment of MITMAA, with its General Body and office space, is a crucial step toward elevating MIT further."

The launch of MITMAA unites the institution's past, present, and future, celebrating a shared vision of building generations and legacies while fostering a vibrant community of global leaders.
