Overview
Focus
The students learn principles of medical genetics, genetic disorders, reproductive genetics, recent advances and research in genetic counseling and public health, ethics and education in genetic counseling. The students have exposure to research training as well.
Career Prospects
The trained genetic counselors have the opportunity to be a part of health care centers along with
clinical geneticists to provide genetic counseling in areas of prenatal, pediatric, adult and cancer specialties.
They can also choose work in industry like biotechnology firms, pharmaceutical companies, genetic
testing laboratories etc. They may also choose education and research as a career through doctoral studies.
