3rd National Conference on Clinical Laboratory Education and Research (NACCLER-2023).

On April 1, 2023, the Department of Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT), Manipal College of Health Professions (MCHP), Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), hosted the one-day 3rd National Conference on Clinical Laboratory Education and Research (NACCLER-2023).

The conference focused on a wide range of topics, including the use of advanced laboratory technologies, the analysis of research data, and the most recent developments in the field. Participants had the opportunity to attend speeches and interactive sessions, all aimed at best practices in clinical laboratory education and research.

The program's Chief guest, Dr. Rohit Singh, Director of Alumni Relations at MAHE, Manipal, highlighted the importance of careers in medical laboratories. Dr. Varashree B S, Professor and Head of Biochemistry at Kasturba Medical College in Manipal, was the guest of honor.

In his welcome address, Dr. G Arun Maiya, Dean of MCHP, emphasises the role of laboratory professionals in the rapidly evolving healthcare industry. Dr. Saritha Kamath U, Professor and Head of the Department of MLT, gave a programme overview.

Keynote speakers Dr. Sucheta P. Dandekar, Professor of Biochemistry, Era University, Era's Lucknow Medical College. Sarfaraz Ganj, Hardoi Road Lucknow, - “From bench to bedside… Translating basic research to relevant health outcomes” and “Principles of research, choice of data collection and analysis”.

A conference was held in two rooms simultaneously.

Dr. Laxmi S. Inamdar Professor & Dy. Coordinator, UGC-SAP-DSA-I Department of Zoology Karnataka University, Dharwad on “The pivotal role of Estrogen in Sertoli cell proliferation facilitating testis differentiation in a reptile, Calotes versicolor (Daud.)”.

Dr. Moka Rajasekhar Professor, Cell, and Molecular Biology Manipal School of Life Sciences, MAHE, Manipal on “Genetic diagnosis technologies”.

Dr. Sindhura Lakshmi Associate Professor Department of Pathology KMC, MAHE, Manipal on “Principles and applications of Flow cytometry”.

Dr. Laxmi S. Inamdar on “The squamate reptile, Calotes versicolor: a unique amniote model to study sex determination and differentiation”.


A vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Kusumakshi Nayak, Associate Professor in the Department of MLT. Chief guest was introduced by program coordinator Dr. Asha Patil, Associate Professor, Department of MLT.  As Master of Ceremonies, Ms. Reshma D’Souza presided over the ceremony. The conference was attended by more than 210 participants, including laboratory professionals, educators, and students from various colleges and universities across the country. The event provided a unique platform for knowledge-sharing, networking, and collaboration in the field of clinical laboratory education and research.
