September 04, 2024
As part of National Nutrition Week 2024, faculty members and interns from the Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics program at MCHP, along with the Department of Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics at Kasturba Hospital, Manipal, visited Sri Krishna Balaniketan orphanage in Udupi on September 1, 2024. The event aimed to raise nutrition awareness among the children through engaging and interactive activities.
The interns performed a skit titled "Superheroes of Nutrition," creatively illustrating the importance of a balanced diet and essential nutrients for a healthy life. The skit also emphasized choosing healthy foods over junk food, encouraging the children to make better dietary choices. The performance was well-received, with the children enjoying the show while learning valuable lessons.
In addition to the skit, the staff organized a variety of interactive games focused on nutrition. These activities included "Spin the Wheel," where children answered nutrition-related questions, and "Make the Food Pyramid," which helped them understand different food groups and their significance. Other games were also arranged, all designed to reinforce healthy eating habits in a fun and engaging way.
Overall, the visit was a success, effectively imparting important nutritional knowledge to the children while ensuring they had a joyful and memorable experience.
