Dr. Shwetha T S conducted an interactive session on “Pause for perspective”.
The talk was attended by a large audience of students and faculty.
Dr Shwetha TS, Associate Professor & Head, Dept. of Clinical Psychology, MCHP, MAHE, Manipal is a well-known clinical psychologist clinical. Her work encompasses both patient treatment and education. She is actively associated to various professional bodies such as Indian Academy of Applied Psychology (IAAP), Association of Sexuality Educators, Counsellors & Therapists (ASECT), Indian Association of Clinical Psychologist (IACP). Currently serving as reviewer for Indian Journal of Psychological Medicine (IJPM)-Sage Publications, Sectional editor for Manipal Journal of Medical Sciences (MJMS) and member for Institutional Research Committee (IRC) since 2018. Currently working as chairperson for institutional research vertical ethics and regulations and involved in various community services and digital platform for creating awareness among different stake holders on mental health and its significance.
She emphasized “Stress” and its impact on physical health, mental health, work performance and relationship. She discussed about stress associated behavioural changes, risk for diseases and long-term consequences. Also, explained about how stress can lead to poor decision making, and how to make effective decisions under pressure. She illustrated different stress management methods. The audience responded positively to the discussion and participated actively in the activities conducted during the interactive session.
