“Care and affection” for First Semester BSc Nursing Students

The Community Health Nursing Department organized a guest lecture on “Care and Affection” for the first semester BSc nursing students on August 5, 2023, at 10:30 AM as a part of Deeksharambh- A student orientation program-. The purpose of this program was to provide valuable information and guidance to the students about the fundamental aspects of caring for individuals in a healthcare setting to perform better in achieving SDG 3.(Good Health and Wellbeing)
The resource person for the program was Dr. Leena Sequira, Principal, MSON, MAHE, Manipal, an experienced and renowned healthcare professional. Dr. Sequira's expertise and knowledge in the field of nursing made her the perfect choice for delivering this important session.
Dr. Shashidhara Y N, HoD, Department of Community Health Nursing, introduced the speaker to the audience. Dr. Leena Sequira emphasized the importance of affection, empathy, compassion, and communication in providing quality patient care. She also discussed the role of affection in maintaining relationships in the personal and professional life of students.
Dr. Leena Sequira's expertise and engaging teaching style made the program valuable for the students. The session equipped them with essential knowledge and skills that will empower them to become competent and compassionate nurses.
Mr. Vinish, Assistant Professor, Dept of Community Health Nursing, expressed gratitude to the speaker for her efforts and sharing experience and also appreciated the active participation of the first-semester BSc nursing students. He requested the students' the gained knowledge from this session to be used in day-to-day life and also for nursing practice.
