Report on celebration of “Constitution Day (Samvidhan Divas)”
Manipal College of Nursing, MAHE, Manipal has celebrated the Constitution Day (Samvidhan Divas)” on November 26th, 2020 at the college.
On this occasion, as an important part of the celebration, the honourable President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind read the Preamble of the Indian Constitution. This was live telecasted through MS Teams online platform at 11:00 am on November 26, 2020 and a total of 101 students, 16 faculty members and 5 non-teaching staff of the college participated in the live telecast.
A webinar on the topic “Constitutional values and fundamental principles of Indian constitution” was organized between 12 noon and 12.45 pm to cherish the glory and reaffirm our commitment to uphold the ideology of great Indian constitution. Dr Nanda Kishor M S, Associate Professor, Department of Geopolitics & International Relations, and Coordinator of Centre for Polish and Central European studies MAHE Manipal shared his expertise on the subject. He emphasized the importance of Constitution Day, the significance of its celebration and commemorated the people who contributed to the development of Indian constitution. He highlighted the basic differences of Indian constitution than that of other countries with examples indicating the prerequisites of the constitution such as societal, familial and individual needs. The preamble of Indian Constitution i.e India to be a sovereign, socialist, secular and democratic republic which is aiming to secure justice, liberty, equality to all citizens and promote fraternity to maintain unity and integrity of the nation were stressed in his speech as these rights are necessity and are not a privilege. The session was conducted as a webinar through Microsoft Teams and was attended by 74 students, 39 faculty and 4 non-teaching staff of Manipal College of Nursing, MAHE, Manipal.
This was conducted as instructed by the University Grant Commission (UGC) vide its Circular dtd. 19th November 2020 and was coordinated by Ms Shalini G Nayak, Assistant Professor, Medical-Surgical Nursing, Manipal College of Nursing MAHE Manipal.
