MSON SPORTS DAY - 2023

Manipal School of Nursing, MCON, MAHE, Manipal, has conducted an annual sports meet on December 15, 2023. The chief guest of the program was Dr. Ashwini Kumar, Professor and Head, Department of Community Medicine, MAHE, Manipal. Dr. Judith A. Noronha, Dean, Manipal College of Nursing, MAHE, Manipal, was also present for the event.
The program commenced with a march past by students and an introduction of the teams to the chief guest by Dr. Leena Sequeira, Principal, MSON, MAHE, Manipal. Dr. Leena Sequeira welcomed and introduced the chief guest. Dr. Ashwini Kumar addressed the gathering and declared the sports meet 2023–24 open. He spoke about his experience in sports from his childhood and motivated the students to participate in events to enhance socialization skills. Then, the event progressed with a torch ceremony by students. In addition, oath-taking was led by Mr. Alstern Vaz, sports secretary, III year Diploma student, MSON. Finally, the program ended with the felicitation of the band-set students from Madhav Kripa English Medium School and their teacher by the chief guest. Mrs. Shalet Snehalatha Alva, Assistant Lecturer delivered the vote of thanks.
Athletic events such as 100m, 200m, 400m, long jump, high jump, shot put, discus throw, and javelin throw started soon after the inaugural ceremony. A few events were conducted for faculty as well.
The valedictory ceremony began at 4 p.m. Dr. Malathi G. Nayak, Professor, Department of Community Health Nursing, MCON, MAHE, Manipal, was the chief guest. Mrs.Saraswathi Hebbar, Lecturer, MSON, Manipal welcomed the gathering. Dr. Malathi addressed the gathering and congratulated the students for their enthusiastic participation. She also distributed the prizes to students and faculty. The program ended with a vote of thanks by Mr. Alstern Vaz, sports secretary, MSON. Ms.Sthuthi and Ms.Sania, students of MSON, were the masters of ceremonies for the programs. The event contributed to Sustainable Development Goal 3 - “Good Health and Well-being”.
