International Students Clinical Placement 2024

Six students of MGH Institute of Health Professions, Boston visited Manipal College of Nursing, MAHE Manipal, from January 2 to January 24, 2024. The students were accompanied by Dr. Elissa Ladd and Dr. Kaveri Roy from the MGH Institute of Health Professions. The students were provided various experiences at Hombelaku, psychiatric rehabilitation, psychiatric wards, critical care units, emergency units, antenatal, and postnatal areas, infertility clinics of pediatric wards, NICU, Access Life Assistance Foundation, Ayurveda, and yoga departments of Kasturba Hospital. Students were also given the experience of community settings, including the Primary Health Center and Anganwadi Center. Dr. Elissa Ladd and Dr. Kaveri Roy were involved in the various academic programs during the visit, which included the symposium on wound care, the National Conference of MCON 2024, and a guest lecture on integrating intersectionality in nursing education. This program was coordinated under the guidance of Dr Judith A. Noronha, Dean Manipal College of Nursing, by the Team Internationalization of MCON, comprising Dr. Elsa Sanatombi Devi, Dr Shashidhara YN, Mrs. Sweety Fernandes, Dr Jyothi Chakrabarty, Mrs Asha K. Nayak, Dr. Sushmitha Karkada, Dr. Sangeetha Priyadarshini, and Dr Malathi G Nayak. The students and the faculty have given good feedback on the entire programme.
