REPORT ON OBSERVATION OF ARMED FORCES FLAG DAY
Manipal College of Nursing Manipal observed the Armed Forces Flag Day on Thursday, the 7th December 2017 between 11.30 am and 12.30 noon at MCON Manipal.

On this occasion, Capt. (I.N.) M. C. Belliappa, Director (Projects), MAHE, Manipal took a session to make the students and staff aware of the sacrifices made by our Armed Forces and also the significance of the day in our lives. He, in his speech emphasized the importance of observing the day as ‘Flag Day’. He said, the Armed Forces Flag Day is dedicated towards commemorating the courage of servicemen as well as collecting welfare funds through distribution of flags from the citizens of India to assist the rehabilitation of ex-servicemen in need as well as aid the widows and dependents of martyrs. It is a time for Indians to express their gratitude and appreciation to the current and veteran military personnel of India and to acknowledge those who lost their lives in service to the country.
On the Flag Day, all three branches of the Indian armed forces - the Indian Army, the Indian Air Force and the Indian Navy, arrange a variety of shows, carnivals, dramas and other entertainment programmes to showcase to the general public the efforts of their personnel to ensure national security. The session was enlightened with history Operation Vijay- Kargil with photographs. At the end of the session, patriotic song was played. The students of II Year BSc Nursing and faculty members attended the session.
