International Midwives’ Day - E- Poster competition
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecological Nursing, Manipal College of Nursing, Manipal celebrated the International Day of Midwives on 5 May 2021, following the theme “Follow the Data: Invest in Midwives” given by the International Confederation of Midwives (ICM). The idea of having an International Midwives’ Day was thought to be celebrated worldwide to recognize as well as honour midwives and this came out of the 1987 ICM conference held in the Netherlands.
As part of ‘International Midwives’ Day 2021’, the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecological Nursing, Manipal College of Nursing, Manipal organized an E- Poster competition on “Role of Midwifery in Future Health Care” from 5th to 11th May 2021 for the faculty and students of Constituent Units of Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal. Around 18 professionals actively participated in the competition. The evaluators for the poster competition were Dr Sonia RB D’Souza, Professor and Head, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecological Nursing, Dr. Radhika R Pai, Assistant Professor-Senior Scale, Department of Fundamentals of Nursing, and Dr Sushmitha R Karkada, Assistant Professor-Senior Scale, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecological Nursing, Manipal College of Nursing, MAHE, Manipal.
The first place was secured by Mrs Bharathi R Nayak, Assistant Professor, Manipal School of Nursing, and the second place was secured by Dr Yashoda Sathish, Assistant Professor, Manipal College of Nursing, MAHE, Manipal. Mrs Ranjani Palanisamy, Assistant Professor-Senior Scale, Department of OBG Nursing, MCON coordinated the E-poster competition.
