International Women’s Day 2020
The faculty members of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecological Nursing, Manipal College of Nursing, Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), Manipal in collaboration observed International Women's Day on March 10, 2020. Two awareness programs on the theme #Each for equal were conducted with a self-help group of Stree Shakthi, 80 Badagabettu and Dr. G. Shankar Government Women's First Grade College and Post-Graduate Study Centre Ajjarkad, Udupi.
Mrs. Pratibha Kamath and Mrs. Ranjani P Assistant Professors, Department of OBG (N), MCON, MAHE, Manipal addressed 50 women of Stree Shakthi from 80 Badagabettu village on the theme #Each for equal and also spoke on early identification of reproductive tract cancer its myths, prevalence in the community, symptoms, diagnostic modalities including self-breast examination, need for early initiation of health checkup and seeking prompt treatment. As a part of community sensitization, interactive session on “Coronavirus disease (COVID-19)”, was also taken by explaining signs and symptoms as well as the preventive measures to overcome this infectious disease. Mrs. Shantha, Anganwadi Teacher welcomed the gathering and Ms. Henita Joshna Menezes, Ph.D. Scholar, MCON, MAHE, Manipal proposed vote of thanks. Mrs. Indira, Supervisor, Women and Child welfare, 80 Badagabettu, witnessed the program.
In Dr. G. Shankar Government Women's First Grade College and Post-Graduate Study Centre Ajjarkad, the Principal Dr. Bhaskar Shetty along with Nithyanand N and Raviraj Shetty inaugurated the program and Mrs. Jayamangala, Coordinator - women’s cell, delivered the welcome address. The resource person Mrs. Sweety Fernandes, Asst Prof, OBG department MCON MAHE Manipal enlightened the students on women's health, which mainly emphasized on physical, psychological and social maturity of women and an awareness talk on Prevention of Covid 19 infection was deliberated to 65 students. The Program was a success since the students participated actively in the program by role-play and by clearing their doubts on the talks for the respective session. Ms. Suchitra T. delivered the vote of thanks.
