Student Collaboration Activity Series 8: “Overcoming Stress Experience.”

As part of the Student Collaboration activity, a session on “Overcoming Stress Experience” was organized by the department of Fundamentals of Nursing on 7th December 2022 from 03:30 pm to 05:30 pm through the MS teams virtual platform.
Ms. Danielle Giovedi, Mr. Mebs Ahmed, Ms. Rowan Chalmers, students from Edgehill University & Ms. Lily, a nurse from the Service User & Carer Group from Edgehill University, shared their experiences of undergoing different stressful situations and the strategies used to handle those situations. Experience sharing focused on undergoing cancer treatment, maintaining professionalism, taking help from colleagues, and living with complex human situations.
Ms. Mable Mary Mathews, Ms. Irene Ajay, Mr. Nithin Vinod, and Ms. Cerene Elza Mathew students from Manipal College of Nursing, Manipal, shared the challenging clinical experiences and how they managed to overcome the stress experienced during the same. Experience sharing from MCON students was mainly focused on overcoming the language barrier in clinical practice, better communication techniques to handle patients and relatives smoothly as well as maintaining ethics in clinical practice.
This experience-sharing session was followed by a small presentation on “Stress and Anxiety” by Dr. Tony Bewely, Senior Lecturer & Program Coordinator, School of Nursing, Edgehill University, UK & Adjunct faculty of MCON, MAHE and Dr. Radhika R Pai, Assistant Professor, Department of Fundamentals of Nursing, Manipal College Nursing (MCON), MAHE, Manipal discussed on “Reducing stress with Yoga.” A total of 117 students actively participated in the session ( 99 from MCON and 18 from Edgehill University).
