Report of Health Screening and Dental camp
The Department of Community Health Nursing and IV Year BSc Nursing students of Manipal College of Nursing, Manipal conducted a “Health Screening and Dental camp” on 03 December 2021, in collaboration with the Department of Public Health Dentistry, MCODS, Manipal at Spandana Rehabilitation Center, Uppoor as part of International Day of Persons with Disabilities. Mr Janardhan, Incharge of the Rehabilitation Centre, along with Dr Shashidhara Y N, Prof. & Head, Department of Community Health Nursing, MCON, Manipal welcomed the gathering and briefed about the activities to the inmates of the centre. The programme was coordinated and guided by Mrs Jeyalakshmi K, Assistant Professor, MCON, Manipal.
Forty seven mentally challenged persons and four staff from the Rehabilitation Center had screened for hypertension and diabetes mellitus after the registration by Nursing students. The dental health check-up/treatment was provided to them by the faculty and students of Manipal College of Dental Sciences, MAHE, Manipal and they also gave referrals for further treatment and follow-up. Games were also conducted by the nursing students to the inmates of the Rehabilitation Center. Finally, the students thanked all the faculty/students of MCODS and staff of the rehabilitation centre for their timely support and help for the program.
The efforts of staff and students from MCON and MCODS, MAHE in organizing this camp was appreciated by the staff of the Rehabilitation Centre.
