“Cochlear Implants: Integrating Science, Practice, and Progress.”-AUDICON - IX

The Department of Speech and Hearing, Manipal College of Health Professions (MCHP), Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), in collaboration with the Department of Otorhinolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery, Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, organized the ninth edition of its international conference, AUDICON-IX, on 22nd and 23rd September 2025. The theme, “Cochlear Implants: Integrating Science, Practice, and Progress,” emphasized the transformative role of cochlear implants in addressing hearing loss and improving quality of life. The conference was inaugurated by Dr. Madhuri S. Gore, President, Cochlear Implant Group of India.

The scientific sessions featured eminent national and international experts, including Dr. Sunil Narayan Dutt, Dr. Jeena Mary Joy, Ms. Sushmitha, Dr. Kailesh Pujary, Ms. Harshitha, Mr. Sarath Das, Dr. Vaishalee, and Dr. Saji Maruthurkkara, who shared their expertise on candidacy assessment, surgical innovations, programming and mapping strategies, auditory rehabilitation, and long-term outcomes. A special oration titled “Redefining Hearing Healthcare with Transformative Science and Technology” was delivered by Dr. Sunil Narayan Dutt, while Lt. Gen. (Dr.) M. D. Venkatesh, Vice-Chancellor, MAHE, delivered the valedictory address, reflecting on the evolution, milestones, and future directions of cochlear implant technology.

The conference received excellent feedback from participants for its engaging sessions and smooth organization. AUDICON-IX was successfully conducted under the leadership of Dr. Usha Devadas, Head of the Department of Speech and Hearing, with Ms. Priya G and Ms. Bhargavi serving as Organizing Secretaries, supported by the leadership of Dr. Arun G Maiya  Dean, MCHP
