Guest Lecture by Department of Public Dentistry, MCODS Manipal

The first lecture, titled “Challenges in Education Collaboratives,” was presented by Dr. Privanka P. Gudsoorkar, BDS, MPH, MBA. A global health professional and Assistant Professor at the University of Cincinnati, Dr. Gudsoorkar directs the Global Health Concentration for the BSPH program. She actively contributes as the Mentoring Chair of the Oral Health Section of the APHA and Co-Chair of the Oral Health Interest Group at Academy Health.

The second lecture, “Differential Diagnosis of Phantom Pain” and “Solidarity Dental Foundation,” was delivered by Dr. Sujay A. J Mehta, DMD, MPH. A distinguished consultant in oral presentations of systemic illness and orofacial pain, Dr. Mehta is currently the Director of Global Health Education at the Solidarity Dental Foundation. His expertise extends to serving as the Chair of the Oral Health Interest Group with Academy Health and Co-Chair of the Scientific Program for the American Public Health Association's Oral Health Section.

The event commenced with a warm welcome address by Dr. Ramprasad VP, Professor and Head, Department of Public Health Dentistry, MCODS, Manipal. The occasion was further honored by the esteemed presence of Dr. Monica Solomon, Dean, MCODS, Manipal, and Dr. Vidya Saraswathi, Faculty Coordinator, International Affairs, MCODS, Manipal.

The lectures sparked engaging discussions, followed by an interactive session where faculty members and students eagerly participated, raising thought-provoking questions. The distinguished speakers provided valuable insights, making the session an enriching experience for all attendees.

This enlightening event not only broadened perspectives on orofacial pain and global health challenges but also strengthened academic collaborations, inspiring future endeavors in the field of Public Health Dentistry.
