Webinar’ a blend of ‘web’ and ‘seminar’ enables sharing of knowledge through application of technology to a larger group of learners. In this regard, a webinar was jointly organized by Departments of Periodontology, from MCODS, Manipal and School of Dentistry, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Kochi at the Department of Periodontology seminar hall, MCODS, Manipal on 8th January 2018.

Dr. Pratibha G, Professor and Head, Department of Periodontology, MCODS Manipal welcomed the participants, emphasizing the need for such modes of learning in higher education. Dr. Jayachandran P. Professor and Head, School of Dentistry, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Kochi shared his views on tele-dentistry and enthusiastically agreed to have similar Inter-institutional teaching learning programs in the near future.

Dr. Keerthilatha M Pai gave an insight on how technology has improved over the time and can be effectively incorporated to make learning better. Dr. K M Cariappa, Senior Professor, Department of Oral Surgery, Dr, Vineetha R, Professor and Head, Dept. of Oral Medicine and Dr. Anand Shukla, Assistant Ptofessor, Dept. of Oral Surgery were also present on the occasion.

The guest speaker Dr. Lakshmi P Menon, Assistant Professor, from Department of Periodontology, School of Dentistry, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham gave a comprehensive talk on “Pathogenesis of periodontitis” with a special emphasis on recent concepts and models followed by interactive discussion session. She also guided post-graduate students on how to answer in examinations using a template, which was well appreciated by the students. 

Dr. Rupali Agnihotri, Associate Professor, Department of Periodontology, MCODS, Manipal delivered the vote of thanks. The program was compered by Dr. Rajeshwari H R, Assistant Professor, MCODS, Manipal. Mr. Satish Kamath, MIT and his team (Mr Prashant and Mr. Chetan) provided the technical support for conduct of the program.
