CURRENT ACADEMIC ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

    Dr. U. R. Acharya, holding a Ph.D., DEng, and DSc, serves as a Professor in the School of Mathematics, Physics, and Computing at the University of Southern Queensland, Australia. Additionally, he holds the position of Distinguished Professor (Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare) at the International Research Organization for Advanced Science and Technology, Kumamoto University, Japan. He also holds Adjunct Professorships at the University of Malaya, Malaysia, and Asia University, Taiwan. His research spans biomedical imaging, signal processing, data mining, visualization, and leveraging biophysics for healthcare enhancement. Dr. Acharya's funded projects have amassed grants exceeding six million Singapore dollars. He boasts an impressive publication record, with over 500 authored works, including 345 in esteemed international journals, 42 in international conference proceedings, and 17 books. Garnering over 70,000 citations on Google Scholar, with an h-index of 132, Dr. Acharya's contributions are widely recognized. Notably, his impact extends to being consistently ranked among the top 1% of Highly Cited Researchers in Computer Science according to Essential Science Indicators by Thomson for the past seven consecutive years (2016 through 2022). Currently, he holds editorial positions in multiple journals and has served as a Guest Editor on various AI-related topics.
