In observance of World No Tobacco Day, Department of Public Health Dentistry, MCODS, Mangalore organized in collaboration with KMC Mangalore, SDM Law college ,IDA Dakshina Kannada And NOHP , Dakshina Kannada
The primary objective of the celebration was to promote oral health and raise awareness about the detrimental effects of tobacco use on oral health. The camp attracted a sizeable number of participants, including students, faculty, staff, and members of the community.
A health talk was organised in the SDM Law College and Contract Resources Petrochem Services India Pvt Ltd, Mangalore, Baikambady on ill effects of tobacco use . the speakers educated the participants about the oral health consequences of tobacco use, including increased risks of periodontal diseases, oral cancers, and tooth loss. In addition, participants received personalized advice on tobacco cessation strategies, such as nicotine replacement therapy, counselling, and support groups.
The oral check-up camp and oral screening camp served as an opportunity for early detection of oral health issues related to tobacco use. Those identified with potential oral health problems were referred for further treatment and counselling to ensure proper management and support.
Street Play:
On the 30th of May, Department of Public health Dentistry, MCODS, Mangalore organized a compelling street play at the Ayushmathi Urban Health Centre. The street play was specifically designed to captivate the attention of commuters and create awareness about tobacco and its adverse effects. The talented students highlighted the harmful effects of tobacco usage on individuals' health and emphasized the importance of quitting tobacco for a healthier life. Through engaging dialogues, powerful performances, and relatable scenarios, the street play aimed to convey a strong anti-tobacco message to the audience, inspiring them to reconsider their tobacco consumption habits.
