Damon Workshop

The Department of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics in association with the Centre for Advanced Dental Education (CADE) and MCODS, Mangalore successfully conducted two-day hands on workshop on 12th and 13th July 2018 on the Damon technique.

The resource person was Dr. CS Ramachandra, a renowned clinician with several years of experience with the Damon technique. The inaugural program was graced by Dr. Dilip G. Naik, Dean, MCODS, Mangalore as the honorable Chief Guest. Dr. Ashita Uppoor and Dr. Premalatha Shetty, Associate Deans, MCODS, Mangalore and Dr. Karthik Shetty, Co-ordinator, CADE were also present for the ceremony.

The workshop was the second of the three modules on the Damon technique to be held this year. This technique is a state of the art appliance in fixed orthodontics and requires deep understanding of its philosophy to get the best treatment outcome. It was conducted in the Department of Orthodontics, MCODS, Mangalore.The participants were restricted to ten, to facilitate individual attention and one on one discussions. The first day began with a comprehensive lecture and introduction to the Damon technique, followed by detailed discussions on cases treated by the resource person. The afternoon session consisted of bonding of Damon brackets for patients under the expert guidance of Dr. CS Ramachandra.

The workshop concluded with a valedictory function with certificates given to each participant. The workshop was highly appreciated and was a very good learning experience for all.
