Ms. Indira G working as a Junior Research Fellow and PhD scholar under the DBT, GOI project to Dr Nirmal Mazumdar in the Department of Biophysics, School of Life Sciences, MAHE, Manipal, has been selected and participated Preparatory School and Winter College at ICTP, Trieste Italy on application of optics and photonics in food science held between 4-8 February, 2018.
The aim of Winter College is to offer PhD students and other researchers of developing country a broad training in the innovative applications of optics and photonics in food and agricultural sciences. Deriving impact through research, development and entrepreneurship in this sector will be explored.
The Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) is a research institute for physical and mathematical sciences which operates under tripartite agreement between the Italian Government, UNESCO & International Atomic Energy Agency. Every year ICTP organizes various schools for the students of developing nations. The organization provides selected candidates the accommodation, travel cost, health insurance and living allowances.
Ms. Indira G not only participated in the winter School and also received 2019 LAMP Poster Award (3rd Place) for the work “Structural and Chemical Characterization of Start Granules using Microscopy and Spectroscopy Techniques” during Winter College in Application of Optics and Photonics in Food Science held at ICTP, Trieste Italy, 11-22 February 2019. The award amount of 100 Euro is sponsored by SPIE, USA
