International Relation Students Club Inauguration

Manipal Academy of Higher Education is a world where students from 57 different nations live, learn and play. We are one humanity and each deeply different. We speak different language, we celebrate differently, we eat differently, but end of the day we are recognised as the one fraternity “the student of Manipal Academy of Higher Education.

International Relations student club is established with the intention to promote student exchanges, study abroad programs and foster intercultural understanding.

The investiture ceremony of International Relation Student Club 2017-18 was held on 29th of August 2017 in Ganga lecture hall jam packed with the dignitaries, staffs and office bearers and members of the club.

A short video that introduces new office bearers of the club and also showed a glimpse of the international student day celebration was played. The aura of the event was boosted with the lighting of the lamp by the Dr David G Karas who was the chief guest for the investiture ceremony along with our beloved director Dr Raveendranath Nayak and the newly elected president of the IRS club miss Uma Maheshwari.

Dr David G Karas who is a professor from Hungary currently a professor of European studies Manipal Academy of Higher Education was the chief guest for the program. He has an impeccable academic and professional record. He has also worked as TV news correspondent for Hungarian National TV Channel during and in the aftermath of the July 15, 2016 military coup in Istanbul. He was also worked as a language translator and interpreter in the Court of Justice of Lyon. He made the crowd zealous to listen to his address.

Dr Karas shared his own real life experiences, particularly his upbringing in Hungary, his professional experiences and also about his

experience in Manipal Academy of Higher Education. He enlightened the gathering about the European culture and also life of a social scientist and their contributions and efforts in upbringing the needy.

Our director is an exceptional orator and captures all the audiences, he was no different when he was asked to deliver the presidential address. He shared his experiences in Australia and advised the young minds in to gain knowledge about the foreign nations, work abroad, come back and use those experiences and knowledge in the development of our country.

Followed by the presidential address the gathering was made aware of the clubs objective and future initiatives by the president Ms. Uma Maheshwari, who also dictated the oath for the newly inducted office bearers.

Ms. Beatrice a foreign intern from Italy shared her experience in Manipal Academy of Higher Education and also appreciated the Indian culture.

As the mission of this club is to promote international internship opportunities for students of SOM, the representatives from IAESTE gave a presentation signifying the importance of international internships and opportunities abroad.

The event concluded with the director Dr Raveendranath Nayak handling over a memento to our chief guest Dr David G Karas, the foreign interns from Spain, Italy, Africa present and also handing over a certificate of appreciation to Ms. Priyanka Amin who is a 2016 MBA graduate of SOM, who conducted a yoga session for international students on international student’s day.

The crowd left the hall with a colossal knowledge from the speeches of the chief guest, director and IAESTE representatives, and this knowledge will show light to move ahead for them in their academic and professional life.
