School of Management (SOM), Manipal Academy of Higher Education Celebrates “EKTA DIWAS”

School of management (SOM), Manipal Academy of Higher Education observed “Nation salutes Sardar Vallabbhai Patel” on 31st October 2017 to honor the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhai Patel. The day was celebrated in the School as “EKTA DIWAS.”

As part of the celebration, a book release was organized by the institute. The book entitled “INDIA’S BISMARCK: Sardar Vallabbhai Patel,” authored by Balraj Krishna. The Director of the School Dr. Raveendranath Nayak was invited to do the honors.

The event was attended by the students and staff members of SOM. Thereafter, students shared their knowledge on the first Deputy Prime Minister who is fondly remembered as the “Iron Man of India.”

SOM Director Dr. Raveendranath Nayak elaborated the key role played by Sardar Patel before and soon after the independence in the accession of the erstwhile princely states into the Republic of India by statesmanship, diplomacy, and firmness. When the Nizam of Hyderabad became recalcitrant and refused to join the Indian Republic, he didn’t hesitate to send in the armed forces to successfully achieve the objective. Dr. Nayak called upon the students to learn about and understand the leadership style of Sardar Patel and emulate it in their managerial career.

Dr Sagarika R. Kamath, Faculty Coordinator, SOM Cultural Club organized the program and gave vote of thanks.
