SANGARSH 2015-16, Annual sports and Games meet of School of Management, Manipal Academy of Higher Education

School of Management, Manipal Academy of Higher Education, organized the Annual Sports and games meet 2015-16 “SANGHARSH” at the MIT grounds on 4th Dec 2015.

Mrs. Vandana Pai Shanbhag Maroor, Olympian and Arjuna awardee was the Chief Guest for the inaugural ceremony. Five contingents consisted of students representing different specializations of MBA took part in the march past. The chief guest Mrs. Vandana Pai Maroor, the guest of honor Dr. Vinod Nayak, Dr. H.B Kemparaj, Sports Coordinator, Manipal Academy of Higher Education and Dr. Raveendranath Nayak, the Director School of Management received the guard of honor from flag bearers of the contingents.

Dr. Raveendranath Nayak the Director School of Management, Manipal Academy of Higher Education, welcomed the gathering. He stated that “The glory of sports comes from dedication, determination and desire. Sports not only teach us about winning, but also about life, friendship and hard work.”  Addressing the gathering the guest of honor for the ceremony, Dr. Vinod Nayak, said that the marks that we secure during examinations will not remembered much, but the memories during such events will be cherished forever. Following this the Annual sports day 2015-16, was declared open by Mrs. Vandana Pai Maroor. Further in her address she spoke about the importance of sports and physical activity in the overall psychological and physical wellbeing of a person. She said that it is not just an apple a day that keeps the doctor away, but it is the apple, along with aerobics and the art of living that keeps the doctor away. She also encouraged the students to actively participate in sports and other physical activities to keep themselves free from stress.

Olympian Mrs. Vandana Pai Maroor officially inaugurated the meet by lighting the sports meet Cauldron with a torch. The torch was brought to the venue as a relay by the young athletes of School of Management who had made significant achievements in their respective sports at the state and national levels. Ms. Preksha Mayadi, 2nd year MBA student took the oath on behalf of all the athletes.

Ms. Preksha Mayadi, 2nd year MBA student proposed the vote of thanks. Ms. Abigail Deena Grace compered the ceremony. Students of School of management enthusiastically participated in the various sports events.
