153rd birthday of Swami Vivekananda celebrated at MCOPS

MCOPS hark back to and honoured Swami Vivekananda on his 153rd birthday, the great philosopher and philanthropist who fetched accolades from east and west to India, by spreading the message and spirituality of Hinduism and Humanity across the globe. Dr C Mallikarjuna Rao, Principal, MCOPS addressed the faculty in a meeting held at Dr Gundu Rao Lecture Hall, MCOPS. Dr N Gopalan Kutty, the senior most Professor of MCOPS delivered a memorial lecture on "Swami Vivekanada-His Philosophy and Teachings" which began with a quote of Swami Vivekanada, "Be a Hero. Always Say, I Have No Fear". The speaker in his opening remark applauded the endeavours of Government of India to honour the people whose life has been dedicated for the country. The talk surveyed through the life and teachings of Swamiji, his contributions to the world which encompassed new understanding of religion, new view of man, new principles of morality and ethics, bridge between east and west and concept of universal religion. The speaker also echoed Swamiji against intolerance, arrogance of wealth and power, fall in moral standards, poverty and sufferings. The talk ended with an exhortation to the public, 'Rise, Awake and Stop Not Until the Goal is Reached". Dr J Venkata Rao, Professor and Head of the Department of Pharmaceutical Biotechnology, MCOPS, delivered the concluding remarks. ​
